Director/VP of Business Development
Speedeals is seeking a skilled, smart, and hands-on senior level leader to build and manage relationships with our local merchant partners. Speedeals is a pre-funded startup, therefore the compensation for this position will be equity-only to start. The Senior Business Development Leader will develop the strategies, partnerships, and selling tools needed to efficiently build successful relationships with local restaurants, spas, salons, theaters and various other merchants located in the San Jose area.
Responsibilities:
- Develop overall sales & marketing strategy, targeting local merchants in the San Jose area
- Identify and create marketing pitch, selling materials to target specific merchant segments
- Build and manage the pipeline of prospective merchants
- Identify, negotiate, and manage partnerships that leverage reach and sales opportunities
- Build and manage inside and outside sales team
- Create and manage affiliates program
Qualifications:
- 7+ years experience in Business Development / Sales, including experience negotiating successful business partnerships.
- At least 2 years experience target SMEs, especially restaurants, spas, or salons
- Comfortable with both “big picture” strategy and hands-on cold-calling into various types of local businesses
- Unusually high degree of persistence and sales prowess
- Demonstrates a high level diligence and accountability
- Has the ability to leverage social and professional networks to discover new opportunities
- Able to research and target businesses in cities nationwide

Product Manager
Speedeals has an opening for a highly organized and efficient Product Manager who can dedicate 20-25 hrs to the ongoing development of our ecommerce business. As Product Manager, you will guide the efforts of our product team, including graphic designers, web designers, and software engineers as we as we add new functionality, improve user experience, and optimize the performance of our online services. The product manager will be responsible for managing schedules, communications, and general coordination of team members in the US, Europe, and Asia. Speedeals is a pre-funded startup, therefore this is an equity-only position until we receive Series A financing.
Responsibilities:
- Identify changes, enhancements, and new functionality to deliver an outstanding customer experience
- Facilitate meetings with remote participants to organize work and define priorities
- Manage workflow and communications between designers and engineers
- Review and monitor progress on projects, tasks, bug fixes, and issues
- Create and facilitate process for review and approval of work products (eg, designs, web pages, functionality improvements/changes)
- Utilize regular communications vehicles to provide updates on status and progress of work
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years product management experience, preferable SaaS or software
- At least 1-2 years experience managing cross-functional project teams with engineers, designers, and marketing staff

Graphic / Web Designer
We are seeking a graphic or web designer who has 15-20 hrs/week to help us with a variety of projects, including web pages, landing pages, email, and print collateral. You will be creating designs for both consumer and business audiences. This is a design position, so knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS is not required, but it would be a definite plus. Speedeals is a pre-funded startup, therefore this is an equity-only position until we receive Series A financing.
Responsibilities:
- Redesigns and/or designs web pages and landing pages
- Designs and develops design templates for HTML emails
- Design sand creates print-ready artwork for flyers and brochures
- Creates and presents design options/alternatives
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years experience creating designs for web pages, software, or email
- Experience designing print collateral including direct mail, flyers, or brochures
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, or comparable graphic design software
- Able to create compelling designs relevant for target audience
- Experience with developing designs for consumer brands, ecommerce sites, preferred
- Excellent communication skills

Ruby On Rails Developer
Speedeals is looking for a part-time (15-25 hrs/week), junior-level Ruby on Rails developer to join our development team. You will be working with our senior software engineers in the US, Europe, Asia to improve performance, add features, debug and develop fixes for our server, web, and mobile applications. Speedeals is a pre-funded startup, therefore this is an equity-only position until we receive Series A financing.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement features in an agile/iterative/collaborative environment
- Work efficiently and take initiative to solve complex problems
- Assists with implementing enhancements and fixing bugs
- Write clean, well-organized code
- Develop for the web and for mobile
- Strong desire to make a significant contribution
Qualifications:
- Experience with Ruby on Rails required
- Familiarity with SQL and relational databases such as MySQL
- Knowledge of web standards such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS
- Experience programming consumer-based web applications preferred
- Great communication and team collaboration skills
- Ability to quickly prototype and iterate towards production-level quality
- A bachelors degree in CS or candidate for such a degree
